Sensitivity in Leadership

It says in this week's Parasha...

“Remove your shoes from your feet.” (3:5)

QUESTION:

Why did Hashem order Moshe to remove his shoes?

ANSWER:

Unlike one who wears shoes, one who walks barefoot feels even the smallest piece of debris. In preparing Moshe to be the leader and teacher of Klal Yisrael, Hashem stressed the importance of “sensitivity.” A leader must be sensitive to even the most minute detail concerning his people. (Ed.
